Silent Night Candle

Just preparing for tomorrows Silent Night Class, the last project we will make is a large gift candle. Such an easy technique but always has the wow factor.

All you need is some tissue paper and wax paper. If you can't find wax paper (the bag inside your cereal packet is normally wax paper, you can smooth it out and use it) you can substitute greaseproof paper. I do find the wax paper does give the best finish though.

Stamp your image onto the tissue paper, cut closely around the image. Cut a piece of wax paper large enough to cover the tissue and big enough so you can hold it tightly at the back of the candle. Put your image on the candle then place your wax paper over the top and hold it tightly. You then need to use a heat gun and heat over the image. As the image sinks into the wax it looks wet and shiny so you can move on to another area.

Finally carefully peel off the wax paper and your image will have transferred to the candle.

Silent Night Part Two

This is the second card we will be making at my next class. I think these frosty colours go very well with the stamp. I ran the image through an embossing folder to give it some texture. I used the So Swirly wheel and white embossing powder and the new Eyelet border punch.
We will also be making a lovely candle to complete this set.

Silent Glittery Night

I can't believe we are now so close to Christmas, where has the year gone! My next classes coming up will feature the classic church image "Silent Night" from Stampin Up. I had seen some examples done in blue and white and I think it really suits the theme. Here is the first project we will make. The image has been glittered using heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds, very snowy and pretty. I still have a few places left for this class at both Romford and Maidstone so if you are interested email me to book a place. The class itself will include this card and another one along with a large gift candle. We will also have a bit of festive fun with mince pies, christmassy music and a small gift from me.
I will post further pictures later.

Season of Joy Class

Just a little sneak peak at Monday's class. I have really enjoyed making these projects. This stamp set is so easy to use and I love the old olive and real red together. The criss cross card was inspired by one made by Jenny Moore (Stamping Moments). I love the little gift card holder too, I used the bauble from the Tree Trimmings set and my new word window punch.

Make and Take Photo's

Managed to retrieve the camera from my daughter this morning and taken some photo's of the make and take projects we did at Romford. A Christmas card using the flourish stamp from season of joy and one of the new Hostess sets for the greeting. Finished off with some gold elastic cord.
Next up a useful notebook to put in your purse, we made a nice cover for a cheap and cheerful notebook and a couple of fridge magnets to finish.

Just popped back to post this card I made for the passion for promarkers challenge. You can use any colour this week and the theme is polka dots. The ribbon was recycled from some packaging so was pleased to be able to put it to good use. You can find a link to the promarker challenge in my blog list.

Something Different

After a spell of making card for other people, I have finally had a bit of time to make something for fun. I have been stalking Bev Rochester's gorgeous blog (you can find a link on the side bar, All the Things I love). There is also a stamp draw for a Magnolia stamp, so do visit. I dug out one of my cute stamps and indulged myself. I think the stamp might be a Sarah Kay one but not sure.

The papers are from Papermania and I used another Martha Stewart border punch.
I paper pieced the image and used pencils and sansodor for the little bit of colouring I did.
The Ribbon is from the current SU mini catalogue.
The card is for a Friendship swap over on the Docrafts forum so I hope Debbie likes it.

80th Birthday Card

I have had a very busy week-end, went to see the U2 360 tour at Wembley. The show was fantastic and the boys were in great form. Our first trip to the new Wembley Stadium which is very impressive . I am off work for two whole weeks now, yeah!!. Going to have time to catch up on a bit of housework and take the kids out for some days out and a couple of card making days planned to but I will also have to tidy up the garden (somehow I don't thinks 14 days is going to be long enough!).

Uploaded a few pictures of a commission for an 80th Birthday card and matching candle. I am not very good at colouring so I paper pieced the rose. A beautiful stamp from Elusive Images (graphicus).

I also made a matching box and gift candle.

I embossed everything in gold and it looks lovely against the pink.

Another outing for my Martha Stewart Valentine Lace Edge Punch. I added a little bit of glamour dust and to the rose for a bit of extra sparkle.

I will also be preparing my next Stampin Up class, Summer by the Sea, please email me if you are interested in coming along.

Cupcakes Class

Just time to upload a couple of photo's today. The first set are from my Cupcakes Class, the very cute Crazy for Cupcakes Stamp set from Stampin up. We also used some of the Sweet Always DSP which goes with it beautifully. We made a cute little box and some cards to go in it.

If you would like to come to my next Class, Summer by the Sea, please email me to book your place.

I found a lovely desk box over on Inking Addicts blog, it is sized for US cardstock but I have converted it to fit a standard card here (including the envelopes). I will definitely include this in an upcoming class.

Sorry about the quality of the photo's, had to use an old camera, only 4 mega pixels. shows how things have moved on!

Off to Bournemouth

Just managed to finish this card today, what a rush! I used the Penny Black stitched rose stamp again, it is very versatile. I paper pieced it and then decoupaged it. The white background is Doodlebug Glitter Card, very pretty, I used the pearl brads to hold it together as glittery cardstock can be a nightmare to stick. My new Martha Stewart Valentine Lace Edge punch arrived yesterday and was perfect for this project.
The weather in Kent today has been appalling, heavy rain, so I hope Dorset will have sunshine (I have booked it!). See you when I get back

Hi all, we have done the draw for the blog candy. Well done Suzy. I hope you like the candy I will be in touch for your address. Thank you to everyone that entered.

We are off to sunny (I hope) Bournemouth on Saturday for a lovely long week-end. I love Bournemouth and Dorset and am really looking forward to relaxing, I will fit in at least one cream tea before we come back! I wonder if there is a good craft shop....

Lots of washing and ironing still to be done and I need to clean the house (do you do that when you go away?).

Wedding Commission

I have made quiet a few special cards recently but keep forgetting to photograph them. This is the latest one. My brief was the wedding colours of gold, burgundy and cream and the couple met through an interest in vintage cars. I alway make a matching box. Sometimes it is hard to give them up! I had great fun with it and got to use my new Martha Stewart Branch punch.
I am off to Romford tomorrow for my demo there. Hope to see you if you are in the area.

New Photo's

Yay a new post from me in the same week! and some photo's too, from my demo on Saturday at Hobbycraft in Maidstone, Had a lovely day but it was a bit quiet. Thanks to all those who came to say hello. A couple of cards here show the cuttlebug folders using ink to make the backgrounds. You need to open up the folder brayer on some ink (not permanent) dye based are best so you can wash it off. Put you card in and run through the machine. Depending which side you ink up depends how the pattern comes out. I put the ink on the side with the cuttlebug logo. I love the Inkandinkado rock start acrylic stamps. Was pleased with this girly pink version.

Last card is the stitched rose from Penny black. I stamped it out on different patterned papers and then paper pieced the rose.

Bad Blogger

My apologies that I have not been able to update, this due to techie problems and just plain old lack of time at the moment. I have missed out my last set of demo cards but will try and take some photos shortly of the ones I have left. But guess what? my next box of goodies is due next week, hurray. But it is Christmas Themed so will have to get in the mood if you know what I mean.

Crafty Outing and New Box of Goodies

Sorry I have not posted for a little while. Easter came and went. Had a lovely crafty day out with my sister, Karen. We went to the Glitter Pot and spent some money, had a lovely lunch and then spent some time crafting. Sadly I could not find my camera so you missed my masterpiece (joking). I let my sister take the cards I made home as she has been corrupted by me and likes to keep them for inspiration. It was a magnolia card, theme chocolate and pink and did turn out rather well, never mind, I might steal it back when I find my camera.

Great news, my new box from Docrafts arrived today, what a treat, some parchment craft tools and vellum (better get on the internet for a tutorial on that one!), gorgeous stamps and papers, really nice hand made flocked papers. If you can get a Goody Bag this time you won't be disappointed, well worth the £14.99. I have some time off next week so will be making up my samples. If I can find my camera will finally be some new piccies to look at. I will be at Invicta Crafts in Notcutts Garden Centre, Maidstone on Sunday 3rd May, do come along if you can.

Count Down to Next Craft Essentials

Looking forward to May when the next Craft Essentials promotion launches. New Mag should be out at the beginning of May. A spoiler over the the Docrafts Website, gave a few tantalising details. Sounds like there will be a range of Co-ordintions cardstock in white with a coloured core, more from Daisy and Dandelion and the Claire Curd Signature Range. So lots to look forward to. Have just found a home for my last box of goodies so now need to make space for more!

On a different note I have just bought some Magnolia and Whiff of Joy stamps so I am hoping to have a play as I am now off with the kids til after Easter (supposed to be doing the garden but we are bound to get one rainy day, please). If I get them made I will post them here first. My Blog Candy will also be posted in the next couple of days as an Easter Suprise, so watch this space. TFL Sarah

New Cards Shortly

Have had a very busy week and not been able to spend anytime crafting so no new cards to post. I did go up to the Card Studio in Maidstone on Saturday for their open day. Fantastic shop and Jayne Harrow is an amazing designer. She has just bought out her own Magazine, check out the website for more details (link on my bloglist). I will try and get some time this week and post again. Have not forgotten about the blog candy either. All is in hand. TFL Sarah

Finally Some Pictures

Took some photos today of projects from last week's demo. Apologies for the quality but the daylight was not too good (and neither was the photographer!)

A Mother's day idea using the new stitch templates. I don't usually enjoy sewing but this came together very easily. Does not really show in the photo but used the Jewelled co-ordination
card that has a lovely pearl finish.
Next a cute pop up card using one of the new stamp sets from Clare Curd's Signature range, easy to use and great value at £5.99 a set.
A couple of 3D Projects, a simple little Easter Basket made with the Scalloped papers from Papermania and a cute little box. The stamps are from the Snagem duo's range.

Next a cute little bunny from the Candyfloss and Marshmallow set, they are so sweet these rabbits. Ideal for Easter, birthdays and would also make a lovely new baby card. The little fairy is another of the Snagem Duo's. I have mixed two sets together and sat the fairy on the toadstool using simple masking. I embossed the image with clear embossing powder and then cracked it for an interesting finish.
An acetate card decorated with the new Jewelled stickers, very easy to use and look effective. They also match the Snagem stamp duo's. Floral card features the free cover mount from this months Creativity Life. It stamps beautifully and includes all the stamps shown plus another couple I did not use on the card. The mag is £2.00 so well worth it.

Finally back to our cute little friends. First card uses the free stickers on the Creativity Mag, quick and simple. Next we have some of the decoupage which also includes the backing papers.
Sorry about the awkward layout, next time I hope it would look a bit neater. TFL Sarah
